Now That’s What I Call Success

Tiffany and Martin 2017

Originally published on 25th October 2017.

I got my picture taken with one of my heroes.

They’re not famous, they don’t have a film or album out and they are not on tour.

However…

I’ve seen them burn with fever,

I’ve seen them sleep in snow,

I’ve seen them cry,

I’ve seen them after they were forced to ‘please’ a stranger,

I’ve seen them high on drugs,

And I’ve seen them beat them all,

I’ve seen them get a job,

I’ve seen them beat addiction,

I’ve seen them convince authorities that they are trustworthy enough to care for a child,

They are power.

They are the hero.

I am just the storyteller.

They don’t have an album out but if they did, it would be called ‘Now That’s What I Call Success’.
